I've had this piece of birch for a long time and it's one of the spaltiest pieces I've ever worked with. The colouration is so rich due to how far into the spalting process the wood is and throughout the vase, you can feel as the different levels of hardness and softness change.

This piece reminds me of something you would find walking on a beach, like a piece of driftwood. This inspired the colour of epoxy created and used, intended to resemble a pebble of sea glass you might find on the same beach - sea glass is also a symbol of renewal and healing. And thus, it received it's name 'Kahakai' meaning Beachcomber in Hawaiian.

Dimensions: 17.5 inches tall x 4 inches at widest part // 45cm tall x 10cm at widest part

For stems (not included), the hole measures 7 inches (17.75 cm) deep with the opening spanning 0.75 inches (2 cm).

This vase is not watertight and is intended for dried florals. Measurements are approximate. Finished with an all-natural, non-toxic and plant-based oil.

Incredible piece!

The team over at TotalBoat absolutely NEEDED this piece and it has a permanent home in our showroom but will also be traveling the country with us to be displayed at various conferences and events. We couldn't be more impressed with this work and Jackie's pieces as a whole.
